Does the environment contribute to addictive behavior? A person’s health is typically the result of his/her interactions between the environment and genes. If you grew up with parents or siblings who are addicts, are you likely to have problems with addiction too later in life? It is likely. However, you need to consider your environment. If you are constantly exposed to addictive substances, you may also be inclined to abuse a substance. In other words, if you live with an addicted parent, you’re likely to go the same route.
